Gina McCarthy: Travel is my passion – from cuddling orphaned orangutans in Borneo, piranha fishing in the Amazon and exploring the Peruvian ruins of Machu Picchu, to trekking along the Great Wall of China and discovering the wonders of Africa and Eastern Europe – I relish every travel experience. Don't get me wrong, I've also earned a degree in international shopping, 'studying' on numerous continents. I can also tell you where the best spot is to watch the ball drop at New York's Time Square on New Year's Eve, and I can personally recommend a fair few five-star escapes around the world.

I've been a consultant with United Travel Takapuna for over 15 years and, while there's still so many spots on the globe I've yet to explore, I've gained a vast knowledge of hundreds of destinations through planning trips with my clients. Whether it's a once-in-a-lifetime holiday or a trip across the Tasman, attention to detail is essential.

The current global environment has changed the way we travel and I find both leisure and business clients are relying on my knowledge base more and more.
